InfoPoint Software Modules

These are "modules" that InfoPoint has developed to make building your perfect solution quick and easy. These are organized to learn about InfoPoint, to get an idea of what kinds of things we have done and have available to help your business. The list is not exhaustive. Some of the modules do not fall neatly into categories. For instance, a store might be enhanced by creating a community around it. Building a community of people that are interested in the same things is effective marketing.

These modules are the intellectual property ("IP") of InfoPoint, but are available to our customers. A customer is not tied to InfoPoint. They can use InfoPoint's IP if they go elsewhere provided they realize that the IP is owned by InfoPoint. A modest annual fee will apply to all IP in use.

Store software modules

These are modules that can be used to build a store .

  • Shopping cart - This a name for having the ability to accumulate orders and easily see what the running totals. It is a metaphorical shopping cart because the user can return things to the shelf.
  • Shipping calculations - InfoPoint stores have the ability to contain information about the weight of the items. At the time a person orders and asks for stuff to be shipped, the software knows the address where it is being shipped from and the address where it is being shipped to. The shipping module goes out to the Web sites for various shipping companies and depending on what the user wants and the store owner offers as shipping options, calculates the shipping and adds it to the total cost.
    • UPS real time - United Parcel Service offers many shipping options, all of which can be offered and their cost computed at the time of the sale.
    • FedEx real time - Federal Express.
    • USPS real time - United States Post Office
    • Multiple addresses - our software can save often used addresses so they can be reused. Sometimes a user might want to buy several items and send them to different addresses, InfoPoint shipping module makes it easy for users to choose any combination if it is appropriate.
    • By cost or other custom methods.
  • Unlock files for download (www.opencountry.org).
  • Store owner management module
    • Create categories, subcategories, category descriptions, photos.
    • Either upload pictures or have InfoPoint do it.
    • Modify products, product descriptions, add or delete products.
    • All interfaces customized so they are appropriate
    • InfoPoint helps with all phases.
    • Complete user management
      • Login/logout
      • Password generation and management.
      • Save information for mailing lists, repeat visits
  • Server, database, credit card management
  • Create store for current database or spreadsheet automatically
  • Search engines - search by any criteria

Community Modules

  • Opt-in mailing lists - these are mailing lists that people join voluntarily.
  • Contact manager - is a database of contacts that can be accessed internally, with in an organization or community. For instance, a membership organization might want an on-line membership directory protected by passwords so only members can access it.
  • Calendar - organizations can use calendars to advertise events, schedule things internally, let each other know what they are doing or more. InfoPoint calendars can be set up in many ways.
  • Forums - InfoPoint uses Phorum - easy to manage and use database driven forum software.
  • Realtime chat - InfoPoint uses the jabber server that allows people from ICQ and other messaging formats to communicate with each other.
  • Listservs - InfoPoint uses the mailman software, just like egroups.com. You can put your own brand on the messages.
